    Building MonsterBash

MonsterBash started with a simple idea: give players a garage full of ridiculous battle vehicles and an arena to wreck each other in. Everything since has been about making that fantasy feel as chaotic and satisfying as possible.

At its core, MonsterBash is a physics-driven vehicular combat game built for up to four players, locally in split-screen or online. We wanted matches that are easy to jump into but impossible to play the same way twice — where weight, speed, and weaponry all matter, and where a perfectly timed ram can flip a match on its head.

    Built for playing together

From day one, multiplayer has been the priority. Couch play, shared chaos, and the kind of trash-talk that only happens when everyone is in the same room. Online lobbies extend that to friends anywhere. We’ll be sharing a lot more about the vehicles, arenas, and modes in the posts ahead.

Thanks for following along early. There’s a lot still to show.

    Creating the Dragon Boss

Not every threat in MonsterBash drives on four wheels. Some of them have wings.

A boss that changes the match

The Dragon boss is one of our favorite encounters to build. It turns a standard bout into an all-out survival fight, forcing rivals to make a choice: keep bashing each other, or put the feud on hold and deal with the much bigger problem breathing fire overhead.

Designing it was a balancing act. The Dragon needed to feel genuinely dangerous and readable — telegraphed attacks, clear openings, and a rhythm players can learn. We also wanted it to reshape the arena, changing where it’s safe to drive and when it’s worth taking a risk.

It’s a centerpiece of our boss-battle content, and there are more monsters where that came from.
